Animal Rights

NIMAL RIGHTS. Hmmmmmm "oh dear" I hear a lot of you say. "Why ain't you doing anything about human rights" I hear some of you others say. This is what I get from many people, be it at a gig, in an email/letter or doing a street stall raising money for animal rights causes. The point is though - what the hell are you doing for human rights? It is usually the people who slag us off for helping animals are the ones who do nothing about anything. I get a great response from people who do a lot of stuff for the homeless, anti war and anti fascist groups. I respect them for what they do, and also fully stand for what they do. There are not just enough hours in a day to do everything, to fight for every cause. If someone should slag me off for not doing anything for human rights, then can you not slag the anti war people off for not getting involved with the UK's homeless problems? or the women against rape campaign not doing anything against the war in Iraq?

Get my point?

To set the record straight though, I do occasionally help other groups out, not just animal rights. I have attended and will continue to attend many anti war demos (even before it became fashionable during the Iraq war this year and last. where were all these millions of people 2 years ago when the war in Afghanistan was going on?). I have also put on a gig and raised money for causes such as RAPE CRISIS and have played many gigs with my band for causes such as for the wombles, anti fascist groups and anti war groups.

Watch out for a gig soon we are putting on for Simon Chapman. Its a benefit for him as he is a fan of my band Active Slaughter. Simon was stitched up by the old bill in Greece. They planted explosives on him when he never had any. The TV cameras caught them doing this during an anti globalisation march over there. Simon was banged up and he and 6 others went on a hunger strike because of the farce of their arrest. Simon was beaten up inside by the old bill. Since then he and the 6 others have been released on bail. He is going to fight his case and seek justice. We support Simon fully and will help him out financially by putting on this benefit gig in the new year hopefully.

Now lets go back to the animal rights subject. Why should they have rights?

Because they are sentiment beings! They feel pain and fear just as much as us! Have you ever seen a cow shit or piss its self when it enters the slaughterhouse, it can smell its fellow companions blood and can hear their screams. Have you ever thought what it is like to be a bird which should have loads of land to be free on, yet this bird, lets take a chicken for instance is crammed in a tiny wire cage with 7 other chickens for all of their life of about 1 or 2 years. This cage is in a dark cold shed, they will never see sunlight, never feel grass and never feel free. They will constantly peak at each other, this then leads to diseases. Chickens ain't the only animals who suffer though, ALL animals for slaughter suffer, especially in a country like ours where the animals are reared in great numbers for maximum profit. Even the so called RSPCA tagged freedom food (free range) have been exposed for mass animal cruelty. We as humans do not need meat, it is just as healthy, if not healthier to not have it. The same goes for dairy products. We are lucky in this country to have so many cheap alternatives. Some people are just either too lazy, ignorant or arrogant to give up supporting animal abuse though. Like I said earlier, there is not enough hours in the day to support everything, so you may not be able to attend animal rights demos etc. But please don't go AGAINST animals rights by eating them. The best way you can help them is easy, it's by not eating them and not buying animal tested products and not taking part in anything which directly involves the abuse of an animal. It's not much to ask far and certainly is not hard.

I could go on and on and on and tell you about everything on my mind right now. But pictures speak louder than words. That's why I have created the page www.londonpunks.co.uk/animalrights.htm If you have 10 minutes spare, please please check this site out. Its easy to browse and not much to read.
