You are reading an interview with Idle Tuesday
conducted by Rich on 6 January 2004
Rich: Right lets start, What are your names and what do you do in the band? Dan: Dan, bass, backing vocals Andy: Andy, guitar, vocals R: so, you guys are heading out on tour in Feb with The Rejects and The Spartans, you looking forward to that? D: Yeah, should be fun, never done a proper tour before. R: Is it true you’re playing with Napalm Death? A: Apparently, I think the venue has two stages; we’re playing the small one at the same time that and are playing the big one. R: Still that’s pretty damn cool. What UK bands are you guys into at the moment? How you think the scene in Bristol is? D: I think there are some pretty cool bands coming up in Bristol at the moment, Munkyscrub are doing really well for themselves at the moment A: I remember I did an interview awhile ago where I said it wasn’t as vibrant as it used to be but was getting better, I think I chose two bands who were up and coming who have both split up now! I don’t think it’s got that much better since then, but who knows what'll happen next. A: yea definitely, Munkeyscrub are getting a pretty good name for themselves, definitely doing some good music right about now D: I’m really into the new anti flag album at the moment A: I’ve always like a lot of English bands who aren’t that big, like some off householdname records, I’m into captain everything a fair bit but that’s pretty recent for me. A: and The Foamers have got a new record out soon, I’ve been into them for a few years now, fucking outstanding band. Thinking were playing a show with them on the tour actually R: yeah at The Croft I think? A: and the covers gig at the end of January, they’re iron maiden! D: yeah, and we're playing with them in the stars in the yours eyes show too R: So, if I say the name of a band or an artist, give me one word (or short) response. The Spartans? D: hip A: Haha A: funny band, good music i guess. R: The Rejects? D: funny A: I don’t know really, I’ve only seen hem once a few years ago, I’ve spoken to them a few times since, but I don’t know them that well R: Propagandi? D: I like them, I borrowed Chris’s Propagandi album for a bit and it's got some good songs on A: I don’t like them, maybe I shouldn’t answer... R: Alright then Busted? D: handsome A: they seem like nice boys, don’t care much for the music though A: I like Dan’s answer D: I was nick named the 4th busted member a while back A: yea I think it’s the eyebrows and the hair maybe. R: Anyway, back to the tour, how is going to work? You all going out in vans, one van ? what? A: I think rejects are sorting their own van then were in a van with The Spartans, we know a few places to stay so there should be more drinking and less cramping in a lot of places A: and now there’s only 3 members of The Spartans so we can overpower them D: heh heh heh R: you had any interest from labels etc yet? D: ha A: some dude just finished uni and had some spare loan and wanted us to do some stuff for his label which he was just starting but to be honest with things like that we may as well just release it ourselves. probably going to do a few more shows first before we start thinking about that, although I had the adequate seven guys staying over a couple of months ago and Jamie suggested maybe sending a copy down to householdname. we may get round to that sometime! D: I don't think we tour enough at the moment to be considered by HHN A: although were not doing to bad as we don’t have any kind of booking agent or anything R: finally, what would your dream tour be? 4 bands, include you D: can we have dead or split up artists? A: well after all the stories we hear from them about their tours I think Grebo would be good guys to tour with and we know them pretty well too. I want to tour with the dwarves too, they haven’t been over here since 98 and they’re fucking amazing D: I’ve only heard one of their songs R: cool, anything else to add ? D: Chris is lame A: haha A: also, nowadays it takes awhile for punk bands to get noticed because people aren't willing to give them a chance. we played a gig the other week and a lot of people came to see us who wouldn’t normally because they were friends of the headlining band and they all had good things to say, so with bands like ours its worth giving us a listen! R: well c u later, good luck on tour, I’ll catch up with u after tour. A: cheers D: thank you
